CYM Holiday Courses
CYM Holiday Courses
In addition to the main Saturday Centre the Centre for Young Musicians organises a range of Holiday Courses, which are open to all of London’s young musicians regardless of attending CYM during term time.
Junior & Intermediate Summer Holiday Courses
Open access courses (no audition needed) which offer a stimulating, friendly, and highly enjoyable musical experience for children aged from 6 to 16. The courses are led by specialist tutors working alongside a caring team of pastoral staff and are designed to provide a progressive musical pathway for children, complimenting their regular term time activities both in and out of school.
The courses culminate in an informal performance open to parents and friends and include ensemble playing, orchestra, singing and creative work.
The next Summer Holiday Course will take place from Monday July 24th- Friday July 28th 2017.
LSSO & LYWB
CYM also manages the London Schools Symphony Orchestra (LSSO) and the London Youth Wind Band (LYWB) – Senior ensembles for players of Grade 7 standard and above with entry by audition (please see separate pages for details): LSSO/LYWB
Grade 5 Theory Booster Day
Holiday course for ABRSM Theory
This course is a booster, crammer day for musicians who are preparing for the ABRSM Grade 5 Theory qualification. The requirements of each question that is usually set will be examined in detail with a strategy for tackling each one. A mock examination will be devised to give each participant an idea of what will be involved. We encourage applicants to bring any questions about aspects of the examination that are causing them concern. At the end of that day, it is envisaged that those who have attended will be equipped to do well when they sit the examination’.
The course is usually held in the Easter break to prepare for the June exam.
