London Youth Wind Band
The London Youth Wind Band (LYWB) is a recently formed
companion ensemble to the LSSO, providing wider opportunities
for wind, brass and percussion players to work at the high musical levels achieved by the LSSO and to perform in major venues.

The repertoire is eclectic and challenging, including traditional and contemporary works for band, and arrangements of all kinds of music from classical through to film, stage and big band.

Geoffrey Harniess, Francesca Hanley, Anthony Maloney and Peter Ash work closely together to ensure the widest possible opportunity for players to be involved with the two ensembles, auditioning for both groups simultaneously in November each year.

In its first season the LYWB performed at St. John’s, Smith
Square and St. James’s, Piccadilly. Future plans include special performances for young children and concert tours in the UK
and abroad.
